Silent Music Official Selection: 2013 Vancouver Int’l Women in Film Festival

So while we have been a bit quiet the past few weeks, it’s not for lack of things happening with Silent Music! Here are a couple of updates for ya: We are excited to report that Silent Music has been invited to have its British Columbia premiere at the 8th Annual Vancouver International Women in Film Festival, to be held in Vancouver, Canada on Sunday March 10th at 1:30pm! The screening will take place at VIFF’s Vancity Theatre and will be followed by a Q&A with Producer Lianna Walden. Vancouverites mark your calendars! This will be a special premiere as two of our Silent Music team members, Producer Lianna Walden and Graphic Designer Betty Chong-Walden, were (and are) based in Vancity throughout the making of the film. Please do spread the word to any BC-based film lovers out there!

In other news, Film Curator and Lecturer at College of the Bahamas, Bryan Boddy, recently reviewed Silent Music and offered this generous perspective on the film:

Sometimes the best stories belong to the protagonists over the readers or writers. I was rooting for Melissa from the start, not to get to a truth, but to speak without an ever-present tribunal… How Melissa handled the ethics of reticence, how she came around to the generosity of reticent subjects… is admirable. I came to respect, a great deal, Melissa’s project, her family, [and] Melissa’s honesty.”

Also, we’ve finally gotten Silent Music‘s Facebook page up and running! So for those of you who haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, please do. Every like and comment helps!!

COMING SOON: We will be launching a crowd-funding campaign for Silent Music to assist with film festival attendance, marketing and distribution and final finishing costs. Stay tuned!!
